The hot weather can take its toll on commercial trucks. Keep your vehicles running well despite high temperatures with the following tips.

Maintain the Air Conditioning System

The commercial truck's air conditioning system becomes even more important in hot weather! Be proactive about inspecting the system to help catch issues before they become a problem on the road.

Be sure to:

  • Regularly flush the air conditioning to remove any debris.
  • Inspect the hoses for leaks and cracks. Pay extra attention to bends and flex points.
  • Look over the filters for any debris.

Maintain the Tires

The heat can be hard on commercial truck tires, especially during longer drives.

Be sure to:

  • Regularly look over tires for signs of wear and tear.
  • Occasionally measure the tread depth and replace the tires once the tread gets too worn down.
  • Before each drive, check the tire air pressure and adjust as needed.

Keep the Commercial Truck Clean

It's easy for debris to build up inside your commercial truck's cab. But this debris can become a bigger headache in the high heat.

Discarded plastic containers, for example, can end up melting and then damaging the commercial truck's interior.

Be diligent about cleaning out your cab after each drive to avoid this nuisance.
