Used Semi Truck Inspection Guide
Semi-trucks are built for durability and endurance, so used models often have a lot of life left in them. Of course, it’s important to inspect a used semi-truck before buying it to get a better idea of its condition. If you’ve never conducted an inspection on a used semi-truck and want some tips on how to make it happen, check out this guide from the experts at Empire Truck Sales.
Obtain Vehicle History
The more you know about the used semi-truck’s history, the more informed you will be when it comes to your buying decision. Ask what the truck hauled and how frequently it was used. More importantly, ask to see any and all documents relevant to the vehicle’s maintenance history. These documents will give you a better idea of how well previous owners took care of the used semi-truck.
Walk Around the Exterior
When inspecting the semi-truck’s exterior, pay particular attention to the tires, body, and engine. Ideally, the semi-truck should appear clean, with no loose connections, rust, or leakages.
Take a Test Drive
We highly recommend asking to take the used semi-truck for a test drive. This will give you a much better idea of how well the semi-truck performs under real-world conditions. Test the truck’s handling at both high and low speeds, and pay particular attention to how well the brakes function. Don’t forget to make sure that the turn signals and lights are all fully operational. Mirrors, buttons, and anything else the driver needs to successfully operate the vehicle should also be a priority.
